Key stage 1 have explored the meanings of opaque and transparent. They were set a challenge from NASA to find the best material for curtains to block out the sun on their next space mission. What fun we had exploring this question!
Shapes, shapes, shapes!
Reception have had a super week exploring 2D shapes. They have identified the number of sides of common 2D shapes, explored shapes that have been rotated and applied their knowledge to make tangram pictures. Fabulous work!

Money, money, money!
Year 3 have started their maths unit of work looking at money. They have enjoyed exploring reasoning questions with concrete resources (coins) to help cement their understanding. A great start year 3!

Key stage one have continued their science unit looking at materials and their properties. Today they recreated a page from the well known book, “That’s not my rocket…” Using their materials knowledge they searched for just the right object to match the property they chose.

Team spirit
Our year 1/2 dodgeball team took part in their first ever dodgeball tournament. 10 schools competed and The Howard children were undefeated going into the final. They earned a well deserved second place!

What is an ordinal number?
Year one have had great time learning about ordinal numbers. They enjoyed having racing and ordering each other by their finishing positions. We then brought the learning back inside and completed our White Rose fluency tasks and reasoning challenges. Great work year 1!
Creating media- templates
Class 2 have continued their computing topic by looking at templates. Today they recapped portrait and landscape orientation, learnt about placeholders, created paper templates for magazine page and then created a google document magazine template. Great work everyone!
Painting
Class 2 have started their final art unit of the year, painting. Today they explored painting primary colours and mixing to make secondary colours with watercolours. A super start to the topic.
