Tamworth football club visit Elford!
Today we had a fantastic PE session delivered by Ethan from Tamworth Football club. It was a fantastic opportunity for our children and we know he was impressed with our developing skills. We can’t wait to go to The Lamb in a few weeks!
Ice Cream Making in Science
This week in science we applied our knowledge of changing states to create our own ice cream. Method and recipe coming soon.
Debug and code
Class 2 have been working hard debugging codes and creating codes to write letters. It took resilience and metacognition to be successful. Well done everyone!
Next stop, India
Our next stop around the world was India. We caught the steamship over then travelled by train through the Indian jungle. We even rode on an elephant! Where will our journey take us next?
Changing States
This week we completed a great investigation focusing on melting points. We looked at how adding heat could change something from a solid to a liquid. Which do you think melted quickest the jelly or the chocolate?
Around the World in 80 days
In English this term our focus text is Around the World in 80 days. This morning we attempted the same journey as Mr Fogg. We boarded our train in London and visited several countries across Europe taking in the sites, sounds and smells from our train window. Next stop, India.
Investigating states of matter
This week in science we have furthered our understanding of states of matter through some exciting investigations.
Why don’t you try one at home, pop some raisins in a glass of lemonade and see what happens.
Super Shadow Puppets
Over the holidays the children were given an optional task of creating shadow puppets based on their learning from their science unit on light. This week we have watched all of the shadow puppet plays, it was fantastic to see all of the hard work that went into these. Well done! What a creative…
Investigating materials
Year 3 and 4 have been investigating materials and using their comparison skills to determine whether they were solids, liquids or gasses. They then grouped the materials into vent diagrams looking at whether some materials could be categorised as both.
A special visitor
Year 1 and 2 children have been learning about animals and their habitats. One of our children very kindly brought in his hedgehog! This really helped bring our learning to life as we spoke about where a hedgehog would usually be found, why alit lived there, how it would be adapted to live there…
Evaluating Investigations in Science
In Science this week our investigation centred around identifying the best material to make curtains. We used our lux metres to measure how much light each material allowed through and then used the results to inform our decisions. We then evaluated how we would tweak our investigation next time.
A work in progress
Class 2 are busy starting their final projects in DT. Today they drew their design onto their canvas and started to paint. We can’t wait to see their designs come to life!
