Reading

Read through the story ‘Anansi and the Yam Hills’

Where is the story set? How do you know? 

What are yams? 

What does a Guangu tree look like? Can you list some sweet fruits? 

The descriptive words in the story should give you an image in your head.

Visualisation- Use the ‘Illustration Sheet’ to draw the character and scene, using evidence from the text.

Science- new topic Electricity 

Education City- work through your City. These activities should last you for a few weeks. They are not meant to be completed in one session.

Choose and complete one activity from the Science Home Learning TASKS-Electricity.

Post your completed task on Google Classroom.

Watch the video and take the short test.

I would like you to try and identify 5 hamlets, 5 towns, 5 villages and 5 cities in England.

Can you present your research creatively? i.e. a booklet or poster? 

If you feel like a challenge then include an interesting fact for each place.

e.g.

ELFORD = VILLAGE

Elford is said to get its name from the number of eels that were found in the local river!

Writing

Adjectives- refresh https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zrqqtfr/articles/zy2r6yc

Highlight the adjectives in the story. Use a thesaurus to find a synonym for five of the adjectives. Which word do you prefer and why? Think about the effect on the reader.. 

Spelling

Practice your spellings for this week. Use look, say, cover, write, check.

Then use them in a sentence to show that you understand the meaning. Remember to use a dictionary if you're not sure.

Handwriting

Practise your handwriting- choose the appropriate handwriting book for your level of writing.
